Isola Cactus
2002
The year 2002 was a year of drought in Israel.
The water level of the Sea of Galilee, which is the main source of water in Israel,
went under "the red line" and this caused a formation of an island in the heart of the lake.
The arbitrariness and temporary character of the island were at the focus of the Environment project.
I used the sinking level of the Sea of Galilee as a metaphor of Israeli society.
The project included a series of Environmental artworks on the island; an exhibition in "Bet Gabriel" Museum, Israel; and a production of a documentary film: "Isola Cactus", about myself, the project, and my Artwork. The documentary was screened at the Cinemateque of Tel-Aviv, 2003.
Step out of the line. Be on your own. Make your way as you choose, side roads, unpredictable valleys, mountain chains and free land where your footprints vanish with every step.
violence and ignorance are two faces of the same coin
